COOL UP RECORDS BIOGRAPHY

Here you have the best biography about our project Cool Up Records. 😅  It better be in the top 5 of bios because if we don’t know how to tell all this ourselves, we’ll have to dead 😱  Although the project sees the light of day for the public in 2017, all this has been brewing in our heads since before 2015. From here on we will write in third person to make it easier for all those people who write about us, thank you. 😏

Cool Up Records is an independent record label dedicated to the creation and promotion of Reggae music. It is formed by the Sevillians Franyah Tiken (selektah, musician and music producer member of Alameda Sound). Mr. John Vanilla aka Jay Smilee (illustrator, designer and toaster member of Alameda Sound) and Mario García aka Tenor Mario (music producer, musician, singer and sound technician founder of Legalize Sound). Three passionate Jamaican music lovers who decided to join forces to bring to life the most ambitious project of their careers.

Since their official birth in September 2017, they have produced an album (on vinyl and cd) together with the singer from Madrid Payoh SoulRebel titled “What a Vibe“, including the video clip “Lone Ranger” which features luxury collaborations such as David Sainz (creator of the webseries Malviviendo). They have also released more than 13 singles in digital format with artists such as Mowty Mahlyka (UK), Lasai (ES), Virtus (IT), Longfingah (DE), Burian Fyah (ES), King Konsul (ES) and Jay Smilee (ES). In early 2019 they will release their second vinyl release with Coronel Brown (JA) titled “The MT-40 attack“.

COOL UP RECORDS MUSIC

The music of Cool Up Records is characterised by its careful productions, always surrounded by good artists who achieve a quality result that is beginning to be appreciated by the public. Their work is developed both in their recording studio (Legalize Sound Studio), composing and recording exclusive music, as well as live, offering sessions on strict vinyl, own productions and dub live sets.

The label’s reach has grown considerably on a national level and has managed to expand internationally. Proof of this is the positive response it is getting from platforms and specialised media in Europe and America, both with reviews from portals like Reggaeville (Germany), Reggae Vibes (Holland) or La Grosse Radio (France) and including Cool Up Records’ music on Reggae radio stations Alma de León (Spain), Mundo Reggae Show (Mexico) or 100% Puro Reggae (Argentina), being his first album with Payoh SoulRebel, “What a Vibe”, cover of the Californian magazine Irie Magazine Releases (January 2018), Reggae music magazine with more than half a million followers worldwide.

SEVILLA is REGGAE

REGGAE DUB X

With their event promoter, Reggae Dub X, they work to promote live Reggae music in their home town, producing events both in Sala X and outdoor venues (Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo and Auditorio Rocío Jurado). Undoubtedly, his greatest achievement was bringing Jamaican legend Sister Nancy to Spain for the first time in 2018. Another important event with a huge crowd (more than 2,500 attendees) was the first Rototom Launch Party in Seville, in June 2017.

During this, their fourth year of life, they are working on new albums with Payoh SoulRebel (ES), Paulinho (IT), Virtus (IT) The Sherlock Horns, Sailor Smile (ES) and Yeyo Pérez (ES), plus a very special Ep with Jay Smilee (ES) and some more surprises. Another of the attractions of Cool Up Records is its image, the work of its art director Mr John Vanilla. A talented illustrator with a very original style that gives a unique identity to the label’s work.
